People of Madagascar : The Antaimoros (or Antemor or Antimoron) are those who reside mainly in the southeast of the island, extending from Manakara district to Mananjary district, located in the Province of Fianarantsoa, in the Vatovavy-Fitovinany region.
At the very beginning of the settlement period called “paleo-Malagasy period”, the Ntaolo were divided into two large groups based on their subsistence choices. The indigenous people, also known as “those of the forest”, settled in the interior forests, while the Vezo, called “those of the coast”, remained on the west coast.
The term “Indigenous people” originally referred to the Ntaolo hunters and gatherers who chose to settle in the forests of the central highlands of Madagascar and along the east and southeast coast. Les relationship, as far as they are concerned, were the Ntaolo fishermen who remained on the west and south coasts of the island.

More specificly, the Antaimoro settled on the southeast coast of Madagascar between the 13th and 16th centuries. They developed several clans, including the Anteonys, the Antalaotra, and the Ampanabaka. The Antaimoro are renowned for their diplomacy, and one of their worthy representatives, God of the Anakara clan, was special advisor to kings Andrianampoinimerina and Radama I. He was even part of the first Malagasy delegation to London, during the time of Queen Victoria.
