Sans Trace is a nonprofit organization that aims to promote the responsible use of natural areas through education, of research, and partnerships.
Many of us have already taken a pinecone or a rock, deviated path to avoid mud puddles, approached too close to the fauna or threw an apple core in the woods. These actions may seem harmless at that time. As long as we do not learn to reduce our impact, the quality of our outdoor experiences and recreational resources that we enjoy are at critical risk.
Our access to wild land is also threatened, because land management agencies sometimes take restrictive measures to protect the resources that they manage. Unless, of course, education catches up visitor behavior and that we all learn to leave the environment as much as possible as it was before our presence.
SEVEN PRINCIPLES SANS TRACE
• Prepare and provide
• Use durable surfaces
• Managing waste properly
• Leave intact what you found
• Minimize the impact of fires
• Observe wildlife
• Respect other users
In Madagascar, these principles are not new, they are applied by many organizations without knowing precisely that they already adhere to a quasi international environmental ethics network. In the case of "Sans Trace Canada", there are several Ambassadors representing the ethical value on the Great Island. They can provide their knowledge and expertise in this area during workshop or ad hoc training session.
The last one took place in Antananarivo and saw the participation of more than twenty people from different backgrounds which belonged Tour Malin Madagascar. This component is only the beginning of a small series, at the end, will lead to teacher certification in Sans Trace Canada. By then, we already applying to respect all the fundamental aspects of this approach to environmental preservation and respect for others.
